To Wheelchair Basketball Team Representative:

This letter is to inform you and your team that the Virginia Sun Wheelers will be hosting the 33rd Annual Mayor’s Invitational Wheelchair Basketball Tournament on October 22-24, 2010. We are extending an invitation to you and your team to attend the tournament at the Virginia Beach Great Neck Community Recreation Center. First round games will begin Friday evening.  Teams will be guaranteed four games and most teams will be playing a Friday evening game.

This tournament is designed for Championship Division and Division III teams. There is a $300.00 entry fee per team. Teams interested in participating are asked to send in their entry fee and team information sheet (see attachment) by September 3, 2010, with checks made payable to:  Sun Wheelers, Inc.  Please mail entry fees to Jody Shiflett, 4603 Myrtle Avenue, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23451.  Entry fees are not refundable. The first five teams from each division who respond will complete the field for the tournament, with other teams responding being placed on a waiting list.

The hotel reservations must be made prior to October 1, 2010 to be assured to tournament rate.  Ask for the Virginia Beach Wheelchair Basketball Tournament when making the reservations.  Teams wanting accessible rooms, should direct their request to Jody Shiflett as there are only 5 accessible rooms.  This is a new hotel and their standard rooms have large doorways.
