2010 MAYOR’S CUP WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

I would like to take this opportunity to invite your team to participate in the Mayor’s Cup Wheelchair Basketball Tournament at Manhattan College in New York City on October 8-10, 2010. Last year’s tournament was a huge success and 2010 should be even bigger and better.

2010 MAYOR’S CUP WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT  

The Mayor's Cup Wheelchair Basketball Tournament, hosted by the New York City Sports Commission, is comprised of two separate Division II and Division III tournaments. This event has been held nine times since 2001 and will be held again at Manhattan College from October 8-10, 2010

 

The Sports Commission is committed to further developing this three-day event into one of the premier basketball tournaments on the NWBA calendar. The tournament will feature 16 men’s and women’s teams (eight from Div II and Eight from Div III) in a round robin format that will guarantee that each team plays a minimum of four games. Teams will be determined on a first-come basis based on when their entry fees are received at the New York City Sports Commission.

 

The Sports Commission has secured a rate of $79 per night ($89 for a double) plus taxes with the LaGuardia Airport Hotel for our out of town participants for this year's Mayor's Cup Wheelchair Basketball Tournament. The hotel will provide free pick up and drop off to the airport and will provide parking for $18 per night. This rate is subject to availability, meaning that if you wait too long you might risk the chance that they will not have any more available rooms. To book a hotel room at this rate, please call either (718) 426-1500 or 1-888-243-2111 and tell them that you are participating in the Mayor's Cup Wheelchair Basketball Tournament. You are welcome to find accommodations on your own if you wish to do so.

Entry fee for the tournament is $250; your team will not be officially registered until the tournament entry is paid in full. The deadline for all checks to be sent is September 10.
