Wheelchair Tennis Clinics (New England) Print E-mail

The Wheelchair Tennis Clinics in Boston MA were organized by Thomas Dodd an avid wheelchair sports athlete and John Pelletier local Westport, MA resident and wheelchair tennis player with the purpose of growing wheelchair tennis in southern Massachusetts.

Over the past Summer, adults from several Massachusetts communities, RI, and NH have enjoyed wheelchair tennis clinics.

Six participants picked up rackets to learn the fundamentals of wheelchair tennis through instruction provided by Dick Lane, a certified wheelchair tennis instructor. 

Each clinic was open to people with physical disabilities that were interested in learning wheelchair tennis.

Clinics were geared towards beginners and players quickly learning new stroke techniques as well as mobility skills to improve their game. 

The clinics were scheduled  for every week during summer months at the Dianne B. Snyder Tennis Complex (DBSTC) Westport, MA. which has wheelchair accessible outdoor courts and also provide lighting at night.   

We would like to thank WSF, USTA, and DBSTC for the their and support of our tennis clinics this past summer. Plans are already in the works to expand the number of clinics next year and to reach out to more people.
