Kayak for a Cause Kicks Off Year XII

On March 28, 2012, Kayak for a Cause will kick-off it's 12th year of blending love for the sporting of kayaking, and a commitment to helping good causes. The annual Kayak for a Cause Kick-Off Party will take place at the Black Bear Saloon in South Norwalk, CT on Wednesday, March 28th from 6:00pm-9:00pm. The event will be attended by KFAC organizers, paddlers, volunteers, and the charities that ultimately benefit from the cause.

Kayak for a Cause XII is scheduled for July 21, 2012, when kayakers will return to the Long Island Sound for the annual event. Kayak for a Cause was created in 2000, by Miles Spencer and Scott Carlin. Since it's inception, KFAC has raised over $2 million dollars, and has successfully led over 1500 kayakers to the beach. In 2006, KFAC set the Guinness World Record for most sea kayaks launched simultaneously (303).

The charities that will benefit from KFAC XII will be announced at the kick-off party on March 28th. Past beneficiares include: Save The Sound (a program of CT Fund for the Environment), The Maritime Aquarium; Canine Companions for Independence - Northeast Regional Center, Builders Beyond Borders, Outward Bound Youth Leadership Connecticut, Hole in the Wall Gang, Courage to Speak Foundation, Cardinal Shehan Center, CancerCare of Connecticut, Make-A-Wish Foundation of Connecticut, Stew Leonard III Water Safety Foundation, American Heart Association, The National Breast Cancer Coalition, Sierra Club, Cousteau Society, National MS Society, Pegasus Therapeutic Riding, Norwalk Hospital.
