Come Roll With Us

In 2010 the Rollin' Red Sox Wheelchair Softball team became a proud sponsored member of the Wheelchair Sports Federation, a National Non Profit Organization that provides opportunities for the disabled and wheelchair bound adults and youth to play sports recreationally and competitively.

The Rollin' Red Sox team was started in 2000 and competes in both the National Wheelchair Softball Tournament and Major League Wheelchair Softball Tournament each year. They are two of the largest wheelchair softball events in the Country.

The Rollin' Red Sox home field is the Field of Dreams in Brockton, Massachusetts. The 1st and only wheelchair softball field built in New England in 1998 at the Brockton VA Hospital.

The Rolllin' Red Sox team has made it to the Div. II National Wheelchair Tournament Championship 7 times and has won the National Div. II Championship 3 of them in 2005, 2006 and 2010. With players taking home numerous individual awards.

The Rollin' Red Sox and New York Mets have a long history together going back to the days of the EPVA Nets and NEPVA Celtics Wheelchair basketball teams. While both teams were competitive with each other the players also got along very well and when they weren't playing each other they could be seen rooting each other on at tournaments across the country.

Players from both teams took part in the first ever wheelchair softball clinic held by EPVA in New York and that year the EPVA Bombers were formed and became the 1st team from the Northeast to compete in the NWST. 5 Players from New England were part of that team. Back then Al Youakim coached all the teams including the softball team. We all knew and loved Al and will never forget him. I sure would like to think that Al would be very happy to know that the boys from Boston were part of the organization that continues his legacy of promoting wheelchair sports.

The Rollin' Red Sox also enjoys great support from the Boston Red Sox, Red Sox Foundation, Majestic Athletics, VA New England HealthCare and Stop & Shop stores.

We would like to thank John Hamre and Wheelchair Sports Federation for their support of our team and we know that with their support the Rollin' Red Sox program will continue to grow in leaps and bounds..
