 "Local PTs go to Haiti to assist in the relief effort".

 

Headed by Cristiana Kahl Collins  from Long Island University  a group of Physical Therapists from the  NYC area will be heading down to Haiti to assist the Advantage Haiti (US) and Expedicionarios da Saude (Brazil) organizations in helping those injured and disabled by January's earthquake. They will be there throughout the month of April, rotating teams through for one to two week intervals.  They are looking forward to developing a program to provide long term rehab assistance to the area as long as the need remains".

The group, "Physical Therapy for Humanity", consists of Cristiana Kahl Collins,PT PhD, Brooklyn, NY,  Susan Calise PT MA, New York, NY, Tara Denham PT, MA New York, NY,  Cristen Clark, PT DPT, Weehawken, NJ,  Jennifer Kelly PT, DPT, NCS, New York, NY and Clara Gaspari PT DPT, New York, NY. Combined these physical therapists have more than 100 years of experience in treating both adults and children. They will bring their expertise to help the vast numbers of those that have sustained crush related injuries that have resulted in amputations, spinal cord injuries and head injuries as well as those with multiple fractures.

Susan Calise will also be donating wheelchairs on behalf of  the Wheelchair Sports Federation.
