All Winners in Heated Competition! Northern New Jersey's Wheelchair Softball team aka the Wheelchair Sports Federation Jersey Yankees hosted a double header in scorching heat on Saturday July 24th, 2010. Players from the Long Island Aviators, Philadelphia Phillies and New Jersey's teams sweated it out in heated competition at the Central Park of Morris County in Parsippany NJ. The Long Island Aviators brought ten players, Philadelphia's Phillies nine and the New Jersey Yankees had twelve players. The Phillies and New Jersey teams each had a mix of players, some who were playing wheelchair softball for the first time. The first game had the New Jersey Yankees trailing the Aviators most of the game. Jersey rallied in the sixth inning but the Aviators were able to hold off the Yankees and won 14-10. The second game of the double header saw the Phillies prevailing over the Aviators 9-2. Plans for a night game, under the lights, are in the works to be played at the Central Park of Morris County's beautiful hard surfaced wheelchair softball field. Teams from all over the USA are working hard as the August 19th through 21st dates quickly approach for the 2010 Wheelchair Softball Nationals hosted by the Wheelchair Sports Federation at Citi Field, New York.
